The move may reflect the shut-down of the Golden Globes and possibly the Oscars, which make other red carpets more valuable to both designers and stars.

It may also be part of a strategy to land the part of Vivienne Westwood, a role still up-for-grabs in a future biopic that’s been lightly associated with the young actress.

We don’t know much more, but if we were betting girls, we’d say Kirsten will show up at Marc (or at least at Marc’s after-party, which she did last year) and also Rodarte, since she looked so amazing in their gown at the Spiderman premiere last year.

And so, the actress will debut her latest line – a collaboration with the cashmere giants Lutz Patmos – on Sunday, February 3, at the New Museum. DJ Michel Gaubert, who does all the music for Karl Lagerfeld, will helm the decks.

Although this marks Kirsten’s first clothing foray, it isn’t the first time Lutz Patmos has been to Hollywood. Their past guest “designers” include Liv Tyler and Julianne Moore, plus one collection with Carine Roitfeld at the drawing board.

Lutz Patmos also did a collaboration with Uniqlo two years ago, but we don’t think Kirsten will follow in their footsteps with that one…

But we digress – Once we made it up to the penthouse (which was quite a journey – it seems everybody decided to take shelter at the BOO presentation, and they’d only let fifteen people at a time on the elevator creating a crush like it was a U2 concert on the lobby floor) it was kind of like being in a really quiet, cute store.

First, we were greeted by a huge projection of Kirsten Dunst on the walls, trying on the clothes and sometimes swinging it around. The rest of the collection was in person, strewn around, so you could touch, ogle and maybe even try things on if you were feeling brazen, which was nice – the sweaters were soft, the tops were cute, and we especially liked the backlit white blocks to really show the sheerness of the shirts.

Now if only we hadn’t been sopping wet, we might have actually tried to snag that tight mini – so random yet so right.
