It may be time for couture, but Milan’s international style posse is partying like it’s still their fashion week.
The location: upper level of Bar Bianco, a posh outdoor haunt in the castle lawn.
The crowd: Fashion journalists, trend forecasters and stylists, plus staffers from Gucci, D&G, Elie Tahari, Alexander McQueen, Sergio Rossi, Claudio Orciani and Ottavia Failla, a fabulous bag boutique here in Milan (very Italian).
The night started off with an aperitivo (a Milan tradition of local nibbles, served buffet-style with your drinks), and ended at sunrise with Prosecco and Negroni Sbagliato cocktails.
Explanation:
Negroni Sbagliato literally means “Negroni wrong, because it substitutes the gin from a Negroni with champagne.
It’s less bitter than the original, but you’ll still pucker like an air kiss from the drink.
To have a taste of what the Milanese are sipping, follow the mixology below:
Two parts champagne (or Spumante, for the purist)
One part Campari
One part sweet red vermouth
Serve over ice.
Warning: periodic use may lead to la dolce vita!
